Clothespin Wreath
A clothespin wreath is a great decoration that you could put on your front door. It’s portable, beautiful, and forgiving when you are creating it. So let’s get started!
Materials you will need:
- 12” Wire Wreath
- 70 Wooden Clothespins
- Red, White, and Blue Spray Paint: Krylon Indoor/Outdoor Spray paint is a good bet if you want to have your wreath for outdoor display as well as indoors.
- Star Hole Punch
- Ivory/Cream Textured Card Stock
- Gel Super Glue
- Hot Glue Gun & Hot Glue
- Ribbon: For hanging your beautiful wreath!
Directions:
First of all, spray all your items outside and away from any wind. Make sure that you use cardboard to put your wire wreath on so that when you spray so you won’t get it all over the place.
1) First, spray the wire wreath. Let it sit and dry.
2) Spray paint the clothespins. You will need 25 red, 25 white and 20 blue clothespins. Spray the clothespins on the little cardboard they come in. Use at least four coats of spray paint on the clothespins. Make sure you leave drying time in between sprays.
3) Using your star hole puncher punch out 100 stars out of cardstock (about 5 stars for each of the 20 blue clothespins).
4) Using your gel super glue, glue stars onto your blue clothespins.
5) Now it’s time to assemble all the parts together. Get a full video tutorial here!
Lawn Stars
Impress your guests with lawn stars! They are fun to make, and you can even get the kids involved. Depending on how much fun you have laughing and carrying on while you are spray painting them, this project could take anywhere from 30 minutes to an hour. Imagine your guests walking up to your porch and seeing large stars all over your lawn. Trust us, they are very festive!
Materials you will need:
- Poster board or thin cardboard
- Cans of spray paint in red, white, and blue
- X-ACTO knife or kitchen shears to cut your poster board into a star.
Directions: Cut out the shape of a star from your cardboard, this will be your stencil. Put that stencil on your lawn and spray paint the inside of that stencil…and presto, you have a star on your lawn! Now get the kids and have them help you. This is so much fun and looks great too! Oh and don’t worry, it won’t ruin your lawn. We’ve included a short video demo from YouTube.
Patriotic Tin Cans
Patriotic Tin Cans are not only festive but very practical. This also very functional decor that adds to your 4th of July theme. These can be filled with flowers, or they can become flag holders by using sand so they won’t fly away in the wind.
Besides a white ribbon, you can use patriotic ribbons to wrap the cans, or personalize with stencils or Sharpies and add your favorite fun quote, or even a monogram!
Materials:
- Tempera Paint
- Paint Brushes
- Tin Cans
- Newspaper
- Ribbon
- Small Flags
Directions:
- Get three tin cans and wash and thoroughly dry them

We hope these decorations help make your 4th of July celebration more festive and memorable. There is definitely magic when family and friends get together in the spirit of celebration. The other magic happens when each piece of decor is placed with the memory of creating it. Happy July 4th!
